Very Important Files
Our handy dandy file mover utility (version 6.0 release Oct-26-2000). If you play a lot of KP, then you probably have played a bunch of different MODs. Everytime you join a MOD'ed server the files you get downloaded are placed in a separate directory (such as Hitmen, Comp, Curse, Loaded, etc). Eventually you WILL end up wasting time (and server bandwidth) re-downloading the same custom maps, skins, textures multiple times. This batch file system should be used in place of the normal kingpin.exe file. Save this file to your \kingpin\ root directory and execute it whenever you start KP. It will move all the files to the "master" directories for you, and then start up the game for you. Works fine under Win95/98/ME and Win2k.
Click here if you need more detailed instructions on using the File Mover/Q2-Plugin.
Updated KPradiant definitions file (Last updated: Feb-26-2001)- the one shipped with the CD is wrong (so is the default entity file shipped with TREADED), and I have fixed (HMG cooler for example) and added several things (Backpack for example). You will want this if you decide to try and make your own custom maps. Lots of additional notes have been added to many map entitities to better help you during map creations.
If you are interested in modifying Kingpin, then you will probably want to grab the SDK
Latest (Windows) Kingpin patch, version 1.21. Released December 1999. The older version 1.20 is still available if for some reason the latest doesn't work for you.
Latest (Linux) Kingpin patch, version 1.21. Released August 1999. Yes, Xatrix dropped the ball and has not bothered to upgrade the Linux version!
