Truz's "How to be a Hooker" Setup Help
Okay. Forget the original instructions in the Hook.zip. Go with these five simple steps instead.
Step #1:
Either delete all the files in the \KINGPIN\HITMEN\ directory from your system, or move them into your \KINGPIN\MAIN\. If you do move them, then I suggest you move the MAPS, MODELS, and TEXTURES directories. This will leave us with a fresh directory.Step #2:
Download the Hook (93k) file, and unzip into your \KINGPIN\HITMEN\ directory.Step #3:
Download our custom HitMen autoexec.cfg file (do a right-click, Save Target/Save Link), and save it into your \KINGPIN\HITMEN\ directory; NOT the \KINGPIN\MAIN directory. This will isolate the HOOK commands to this MOD only, and not available to other non-HitMen servers.
By default the "SHIFT" key is what we bound to the grappling hook. Press "SHIFT" to launch the hook, and to also detach the hook. The "W" key is extend/grow, while the "E" keys is retract/shrink.
NOTE: You must press-and-hold "SHIFT" to hook. It will shoot out, hit destination, and as you hold the key down retract the line pulling you (or your opponents).Step #4:
If you previously had installed the Hook and were utilizing the EXEC hook.cfg commands you should not need to do that anymore. You should use NOTEPAD and open the autoexec.cfg and config.cfg files in your \KINGPIN\MAIN, \KINGPIN\GENOCIDE\, and any other non-HitMen MOD directories. Make sure the alias Hook commands are removed from the autoexec.cfg and that the SHIFT key is NOT bound to "+hook". Once you do this everything should be set.Step #5:
Go find a handy HitMen server and start grappling the crap out of people! [BC] and WirePlay seem to be the only groups actively running HitMen servers at the moment.
