Awards for DPG players
Thursday, June 28, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]IP change, etcDirtyDog and Nutsack have setup the Kingpin Player Awards site for those who have been abusing our T-1 HitMen server for the past 1-2 years.
Go now to take a look, it is fun stuff:

Sunday, June 24, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]Help [BC] crush the other encryption teams...The master [BC]'s CAP-N-YO-ASS game server, and several sub sections of the [BC] web site will be semi-unavailable (frag stats and skin check) for a day or two while I finish up my server migration.
I upgraded my 4 year old server box (seems to always be my slowest machine) from a p2-300 with 256meg to p3-700 with 384meg. Kingpin game server -may- run a bit faster but I doubt it. Everything has been tweaked TCP/IP wise for years, I just need a faster pipe. If only SprintION would get off their dead ass in my area I would switch. But heck, my RoadRunner cable has been happily serving us for 2+ years now.
Several new maps (about a dozen) have been loaded, will get them online for download this week too.
BTW, the server is currently sitting on wireless connection this week, just so i can abuse/stress test the WiFi connection. So far, server play has been normal... as it should since the WiFi is a 11mbps connection.
Friday, June 15, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]7.3 Million frags and countingI have been participating in distributed computing contests for almost 4 years now, and for some reason have forgotten to regularly ask our Kingpin families to help out.
Go here: http://www.distributed.net/download/clients.html#win32 and find the client for your machine. I suggest the Win32/installer version.
Why? What? This little "cow" sits on your task icon list and waits for your computer to be "idle" -- if it is, it grabs the CPU and starts working on this world-wide cracking the code contest.
Once you install the client, and it asks for setup, please set your EMAIL address to the following: your_kingpin_nickname@CAP-n-yo-ass.com, or if you wish to remain anonymous just set it to truz@cap-n-yo-ass.com. Please do not use your clan [], {}, special characters, etc in your email name... for example: [)irty[)og{WC} would become dirtydog_wc@cap-n-yo-ass.com, or Freddy[BC] would become freddy_bc@cap-n-yo-ass.com
If you decide to join this effort please let me know, so that i can start an online progress. I will create us a "CAP-N-YO-ASS" team once i see some activity, which we can track and merge into my pre-existing team (currently ranked #580 of 12000 teams) if we desire later.
Have no fear, these clients are the safest and stablest pieces of software i have used in the last 4 years, and have never caused any instability. Please note that your CPU utilization will ALWAYS be 100% from now on, since the "cow" uses all the spare cycles. This work client DOES NOT slow down your games, internet, etc -- as it ONLY works when your CPU has free clock cycles...
Let's see how much progress the "CAP-N-YO-ASS" team can make...
Thursday, June 7, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]FragStats - stats reset EVERY month ... usuallyI have created an ALL-TIME frag report for our 16-player server [BC]'s DA PLAYGROUNDZ (aka DPG). This covers stats from March 2000 thru end of May 2001. Naturally we are probably missing at least 4 million frags from the pre-MOD days (no detailed stats could be accurately kept before the use of COMP/Hitmen/CTC/GodFather servers).
Drop by our FragStats section and check out the details... I will be doing more stats over the next week... including an *ALL* servers combined report which I think may break 10 million frags.
Wednesday, June 6, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]Just as a reminder for those don't remember. We do try and reset the FragStats every month... sometimes we miss it and just wait til the next month.
So for those wondering where you went in the stats, everything has been zero'd back.
I am once again looking at trying to do an all-time stats report combining all server logs we have... 450+ megs of logs, we will see if the stats engine can handle it.
