Wolfflow MOD v3.00 is running
   Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Here is a short run down on the new Wolfflow MOD v3.00:

  1. Server automatically converts Team/Bagman spawns into regular Deathmatch spawns... which means a lot of those cool Team only maps are now playable. Expect to see a bunch of them added to our rotation
  2. HMG Mode 3 (Vortex Rings) now behave better, they no longer bounce off the sky.... meaning if you try to ricochet -- you better aim careful.
  3. HMG mode 2: Pie-Hole shells, Fire-Balls, and Dual Flamer are now recording GSlog stats correctly
  4. Grappling Hook kills are now recorded in GSlog stats -- oh yeah!! heheh
  5. FlameThrower mode 3: FireBalls, have been adjusted and no longer create lag. Unfortunately the cool looking fireballs had to go... the weapon is now very short range, with very tight flame kill.
  6. Minor scoreboard tweak, adjustments
  7. JOIN bug attempted to be fixed, still testing
  8. Few more lag reducing improvements to net-code
  9. Few tweaks to anti-cheat detection modules
  10. More changes to come as soon as we get done testing this version...

Click on this direct FragStats link to see some of the new statistics in detail, still to be improved as I get my end fixed up.

Truz's custom bind file for Wolfflow MOD play...
   Tuesday, July 31, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Here is Truzenzuzex[BC]'s personal bind file for the Wolfflow MOD

1) Grab this file, and save it to your \kingpin\wolfflow\ directory. Right click on the file link and pick Save As; make sure the file gets saved as autoexec.cfg, and NOT autoexec.cfg.txt.

or you can

2) Insert them by hand from my notes below... as you can see I bind 2 weapons to the same key -- This way I don't have to tie up too many custom key binds.

Please NOTE: That when you hit the combo keys you will only see the last weapon on the screen... so hitting N will say HMG: Pie-Hole Mode selected, but it has also put you into Dual Rocket at the same time... another press of N and you are in HMG Vortex and Triple Rocket Mode... it might seem strange at first, but once you get used to it... it is much faster on weapon changes.

//
// \kingpin\wolfflow\autoexec.cfg for WolffloW MOD
// ** compatible with Atrophy's HITMEN configuration setup
//

alias +hook "hook action; hook shrink"
alias -hook "hook stop"

alias +shrink "hook shrink"
alias -shrink "hook stop"

alias +grow "hook grow"
alias -grow "hook stop"

// here is where you set your keys
// only change 'SHIFT', 'w', or 'r' to whatever key you desire

bind SHIFT +hook // hook on/off toggle
bind w +grow // for sliding down the chain
bind e +shrink // for climbing up the chain

bind j "flamer_type; grenade_type"
bind n "rocket_type; hmg_type"
bind m "shotty_type; tommy_type"

Don't forget, in case for some strange reason you still do not have them the PAK files: http://www.3ddownloads.com/index.php3?directory=/poisonville/mods/WolffloW/

Spamming message on Wolfflow MOD
   Sunday, July 29, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Ever seen this? The Wave is NOT available in this MOD!..INSERTYOURNAME has spammed 0 times. You will die if U do it 2 times.

This means you have a TAUNT, or MOVE LEFT, or TALK KEY bound to your fire key... which has been popular for many clans for a long time. However we have found, through extensive debug testing, that this will increase LAG for game servers... and so it should be disabled REGARDLESS of which MOD you are playing.

If you don't remove it while in Wolfflow MOD then you will get killed by the server and get -2 frags. This is to encourage you to fix your binds. This penalty may be increased if people continue to ignore the warnings. In other words, if you do NOT remove it there will soon be NO chance you will finish anywhere but DEAD LAST when playing on a Wolfflow MOD server.

[BC] and other clans now consider this to be a "cheat-like" method now that we have tracked down the side effects. Please fix your binds.

Dedicated Server assistance
   Saturday, July 28, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

I have created a setup zip of files for server admins by popular demand.

Truzenzuzex[BC]s pre-configured dedicated server setup files for HITMEN 1.6, CTC 1.1, and WOLFFLOW 2.85 including MonkeyMOD CDS and BWADMIN-JJAF anti-cheat protection.

Open, read the README.TXT and go to work... I can't help everyone personally on server setups anymore... just don't have the time, but these all work AS IS ... all you have to do is update the SERVER.CFG files, MAPS.LST and go...

And, drumroll please... Once you have your server setup, and you are established we can get your GSlog stats (stdlog.log) incorporated into our master FragStats system.

FragStats back on regular schedule finally
   Friday, July 27, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

FYI:

FRAGSTATS are being updated every 5-6 hours now... at least for [BC]'s Cap-N-Yo-Ass! and [BC]'s DaPlayGroundz, some of the others might only send in updated logs once a day.

We are however re-running the stats process every 5 hours, so if new logs are received in during that window they will show up.

We expect to add a few new servers into the stats system as soon as they get their asses in gear... hint, hint.

FragStats - older data updated
   Friday, July 27, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

I have gone back and finished the ALL-TIME reports for several of the inactive servers, along with some minor cleanups.

Now that Wolfflow MOD is creating detailed GSlogs I will be updating the Means of Destruction pages to break down kills in more depth.

Next week, after end of month reports are updated, I will attempt to merge all of the servers' ALL-TIME reports into one master FRAGSTATS report. This master report should exceed 12 million frags !! Dead-on accurate -- i'm willing to say 99.5% accurate on the counts. This is by far lightyears more accurate than that other half-assed service aka TheCLQ -- which on a good day (if they prayed to Allah) could only be about 30% accurate.

BTW, we have added PigWhistler's Chaos Town to [BC]'s Cap-N-Yo-Ass! as our default map, temporarily replacing our favorite classic The Yard, at least for the next few weeks.

Superman gets wacked...
   Tuesday, July 24, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

KB aka Superman finds himself dragged up on to the rooftops while playing [BC]'s Quad Towers. Too bad Truzenzuzex[BC] had a lead pipe waiting!

Freddy vs. Truz -- showdown on Sunday!
   Sunday, July 22, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Freddy[BC] decided it was time for another Armagon showdown. We started with 6 players, and finished with 4, 2 of which were late starters. The usual for a 100 frag thrashing on [BC]'s Tri-Armagon carnage arena. Very few have the hand strength for a 30 minute non-stop blast-a-thon! {grin}

If I hadn't pulled out the ole' Tommygun at the last minute, I would have lost to Freddy[BC]'s ring-vortex HMG/Rocket combos.

Click on the pic below for the darn close match. Freddy[BC] usually wins this showdown 2 out of 3 times, this was my round.

CNYA master server IP change
   Friday, July 20, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Unexpected IP address change for the master server: 65.26.82.172 -- The DNS servers should catch up within 12-18 hours and the usual address of CNYA.cap-n-yo-ass.com will start working again.

The 2nd ide channel on my server decided to vaporize over night... and BIOS doesn't recognize it now. I expect a bit of downtime this weekend when i finally yank it apart to perform surgery. As usual, we will be back up with Wolfflow MOD as soon as I can get sh*t fixed.

New maps, and old crappy maps ...
   Tuesday, July 17, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

We have done some housecleaning and updating, as always. Several new maps have been loaded onto [BC]'s DaPlayGroundz!. And just as a reminder every new map is loaded at [BC]'s Cap-N-Yo-Ass!, for testing, eval, and distribution to our other servers..

As always with 826 (not counting all of GT's Q2 conversions) maps available for our servers, some crappy ones sneak thru. As it happens most of the time, the map doesn't have enough spawn points, bad flow, or doesn't fit with the MOD we are running at that server.

If you are playing on a server running Wolfflow MOD or CTC the map name shows up on the scoreboard. Our HitMen MOD servers lack this feature, so if you are on a "bad" map, please Alt-Tab over to your GameSpy (or such) and find out which map is playing... it will be listed with all the server info.

Once you find the name, drop us an email and list the bad map, and state WHY it is bad. This will save us some time, and give us some insight to do a double-check before removing.

Get back to fraggin!

FW issues, access to FragStats & SkinCheck
   Sunday, July 15, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Due to an increased level of stupidity from known and unknown people probing our game servers and web servers I have had to bump up some firewall settings.

If you find yourself having trouble connecting to our web site, or game servers please email me at: truz@cap-n-yo-ass.com. Please include your current IP address, the time/date of the access issue, and what you were trying to access.

We have added several "bad" people to our block list, idiots trying to crash the Kingpin servers, and generally cause trouble.

It is sad when dickheads have nothing better to do then jack with one of the leading Kingpin supporters and cause our players trouble.

I have already logged, documented, backtraced and submitted reports to numerous ISPs, and will continue if needed.

What most people fail to realize is that we, that is [BC], have logged every Kingpin game since June of 1999. That means we know the following:

  1. Who connected by IP, timestamped
  2. Name of connecting player, by IP
  3. Name changes in game
  4. All chat and game commands issued in a game
  5. All Anti-cheat records from BW-JJAF-admin, and Monkey's MM client logs

And the really important reason why we log stuff:

  1. Track every frag
  2. Track every suicide
  3. Track Catch the Chicken stats
  4. Track "map" winners
  5. and any other stat thing we can track for FragStats

As a REAL WORLD example: I can track down [AZ]RuN@MUK, a nasty little trash-shit talker that had been bothering and annoying all our regular players on [BC]'s DA PLAYGROUNDZ. Trash talk is normal in games, but when it becomes overly abusive you have crossed the line; especially when it causes people to quit playing when the trash talker is on the game server.

So I grab all the lovely logs, and start running parse/analysis--- Lo!! and Behold I find out that it is really RuiN[FuX] in disguise. A very regular and highly active player, or I should say *was* a regular player.

It is so gawd-damn stupid when we have to step in an do things like this. The whole point of a DM game is to play, have fun, and enjoy the frags. At least that is how [BC] plays -- shouldn't you?

More discussion on this issue and some other hot topics can be found in our forums, or will be shortly.

looking for new maps...
   Saturday, July 14, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

I'm looking for new KP maps that I for some reason might not have...

Go find your KINGPIN directory and Drop to a DOS shell. Once you know you are sitting in your \KINGPIN\ directory type the following:

dir *.bsp /s /on /b | sort > c:\yourname-map-list-for-truz.txt

Open that file with NOTEPAD to make sure it really did work, should have a ton of .BSP files...

Now email me that file please... truz@cap-n-yo-ass.com

Thanks. The [BC] crew is getting started on our infamous map pack updates... something we have be WAY behind on for almost a year.

What is new in Wolf 2.85 you ask?
   Saturday, July 14, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Here is a short run down from our beta testing this weekend:

  1. Overflow/connection problems on map changes seem 99.9% solved now
  2. Numerous little bug fixes from the previous 2.15
  3. Score resume on reconnect/dropped internet connection
  4. Map voting menu with weighted votes (most popular maps show first)
  5. Spectator/holding queue mode on map start to even out HPB/LPBs
  6. HMG mode 3 blackhole weapon changed to razor bouncer/vortex rings
  7. Flamethrower mode 3 now shoots some nifty fireballs
  8. New Pak5/Pak6 files include some kick ass tunes during map intermissions, along with improved graphics/models

I will post the new custom binds files to our server for download later today, I hope; Wolf's stock version, and my personal [BC] flavored version.

Wolfflow 2.85 out - and PAK file updates
   Friday, July 13, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Go get'em: http://www.3ddownloads.com/index.php3?directory=/poisonville/mods/WolffloW/

Unzip these to your \kingpin\wolfflow\ directory and overwrite the old pak5/6 files.

These may change again this weekend depending on how our testing of the new v2.85 goes. Grab them ANYHOW as they rock!

The new v2.85 is running on [BC]'s CAP-N-YO-ASS right now.

Stay tuned!!

more FragStats online
   Wednesday, July 4, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

I finally found my missing backup CD, and restored a few more missing log files for both [BC]'s CAP-N-YO-ASS and [BC]'s DA PLAYGROUNDZ!, which will adjust the totals slightly.. I will be re-running the all-time reports for both servers.

NOTE #1: Die-hard long-time players, especially those that have switched clans/crews, or varied their nicknames slightly may want to search the all-time reports. If you find some odd-ball entries under an older name, please cut-n-paste the info and email to me. After reviewing, and agreeing I will update the stats alias file so that on the next update your stats will be merged.

I already maintain quite a large list of aliases for most of the big kidz of the crews/clans, but I don't go out of my way to fix something unless it is a glaring error, or someone politely asks.

Once I get all the other servers re-run under the tweaked stats engine, I will attempt a "ALL-SERVERS" for All-Time report... provided the compile engine can take it...

Oh, by the way... Have we mentioned lately that other service known as TheCLQ is a piece of shit? Yes I know they cover lots of games, but remote polling of servers via status is in NO way an accurate stat system.

NOTE #2: For those reliable, established clans wanting to add their stats into our system, drop me a line. You must be running a MOD that generates accurate "stdlog.log" files. Hitmen, CTC, Wolfflow, and the early COMP mod are the only one's that I know of. Once I have a chance to analyze your logs to make sure they are GSlog friendly, then we can setup a procedure for you to drop your logs off on a daily basis.

FragStats - mostly back online now
   Tuesday, July 3, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Should have all old reports back online shortly, but our two primary servers are fully back. Including the new updated ALL-TIME frag report for our 16-player server [BC]'s DA PLAYGROUNDZ (aka DPG).

This covers stats from March 2000 thru the end of June 2001, exceeding 8 million frags! Naturally we are probably missing at least 5 million frags from the pre-MOD days (no detailed stats could be accurately kept before the use of COMP/Hitmen/CTC/GodFather servers).

CAP server rock solid right now
   Tuesday, July 3, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

I have reconfigured KP network again and will leave it that way until after the holiday. Everything seems to be running smooth as glass, including somewhat better pings/performance on this new improved server box.

Still awaiting the newest version of the Wolfflow MOD, due anytime, that will continue to improve and expand on this popular DM variation.

To those in the USA have a safe and happy Fourth of July... and to those over in Britain, ahh. No i won't say it.. it IS ancient history no less.

master CAP server still semi-fucked
   Sunday, July 1, 2001 - posted by Truzenzuzex[BC]

Yes. Master server is still fucked up. I had it temporarily on a wireless card while i was housecleaning some other pcs. Now that Linksys upgraded the firmware of the BEFW11S4 the wireless works flawless... however they have still not made it usuable when using 10/100/200mbps wired connections. Everyone seems to be getting delta parse errors, and the crc error count on my 3COM NICs just sky rocket.

I give the fuck up! If someone else has any ideas, feel free to send them to me... I am tired of having a 10 and 100 meg hub when i should be able to do everything on my new Linksys.... fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
